Turner to lead women's team

The committee is pleased to announce that Shane Turner has been appointed senior women's coach for season 2024-25.

After serving as Steve Neville's assistant last year, Shane is looking to grow on the good work achieved in the past 12 months and his positive relationship with the playing group.

Shane, cap No. 645 is an HCC committee member and 2023 recipient of the Adrian Tudor Memorial Award for the best first-year player.

"I'm keen to working with the existing playing group, which has a good mix of youth and experience, and all new players to continue to develop their skills and cricket knowledge in an inclusive and supportive environment, he said.

"The team made finals for the first time last season so there are lot of positives about where we are at and what we can achieve as a collective.

"I'm grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity."

President Corey Martin said Shane has shown true Chieftain attributes since joining the club for the 2022-23 season as a player through his actions and dedication.

"The club is lucky to have young people within willing to put their hands up and take on positions of great responsibility with a positive attitude and willingness to learn along the journey," he said.

"The committee is confident that with Shane, Tristan Weeks (senior men's coach) and Curtis Hodgetts (Junior Development Officer) working together, we can build strong programs for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy cricket and develop their skills."

The club's pre-season program will be unveiled soon.
