Experienced coach to help develop Chieftians

Paul Dickson has been unveiled as the Hadspen’s senior assistant coach for season 2023-24.

The former Cricket Tasmania development coach has an extensive playing and coaching resume with several clubs - particuraly Latrobe - and

is keen to take on a new challenge at the Chieftains.

Chieftains president Corey Martin said Dickson’s appointment was part of the club’s plan to increase its investment in junior cricket and coaching rig


ht across the club.

“The committee identified our junior program as a key area that as a club we need to improve on to increase player development, retention and recruitment,” he said.

“A healthy program needs a strong leader and cricket brain and Paul, along with Tristan (senior men’s coach), Justin (women’s coach) and a great group of club veterans and volunteers give us a brilliant foundation to build a leading program from.”

Hadspen senior coach Tristan Weeks said he is looking forward to reuniting with Dickson after the pair worked together previously at the Demons

“Paul is a determined, open-minded person that loves to make people better. He is a level 2 accredited coach who has put that theory to good practice with both junior and senior rep teams all over Tasmania,” Weeks said.

“Paul will be a fantastic mentor for players of all ages and his knowledge will be invaluable for our leaders across the whole club.”

Dickson, a Latrobe life member, has played more than 250 matches and has taken his 368 wickets at 19.35 and score his 4370 runs at 17.45.
